College Gardens, a valued residential facility dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment, engaged Aleron to deliver vital upgrades to its passive fire protection systems. This work formed a key part of the site's commitment to strengthening fire safety measures and ensuring compliance with current fire protection standards.
Aleron's Passive Fire Protection team, known for their technical expertise and precision, carried out a series of essential installations and improvements across the building. This included the strategic installation of fire-rated barriers designed to achieve a 60-minute fire resistance rating, using specialist double batt insulation and high-performance mastic sealants.
Throughout the course of the project, the team addressed a wide range of fire safety challenges. These included sealing unprotected penetrations in block walls, such as holes, voids, gaps at the heads of walls, single and bundled cables, plastic pipes, and inadequately sealed joints around plasterboard partitions.
To effectively resolve these issues, the team:
The work also involved meticulous attention to installation detail to ensure all critical fire stopping points would perform reliably in the event of a fire, safeguarding evacuation routes and containing fire spread between compartments.
Thanks to Aleron's specialist approach and attention to detail, College Gardens now benefits from significantly enhanced passive fire protection measures. The successful completion of this project has reinforced the facility's commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and wellbeing for its residents and staff.

To effectively resolve these issues, the team:
- Installed certified fire-resistant seals to fill holes, voids, and head-of-wall gaps.
- Applied linear gap mastic to properly seal gaps around plasterboard interfaces.
- Reinstated fire seals where necessary to ensure full compliance with fire rating requirements.
