As part of a key fire safety upgrade, Aleron was engaged to deliver fire protection works at the Radisson Red Hotel, Heathrow. The project focused on enhancing compartmentation by addressing critical fire damper penetrations and constructing a new fire-rated ceiling to maintain the integrity of fire compartments.
The Aleron Passive Fire Protection team carried out detailed works around existing fire dampers, ensuring all service penetrations were correctly sealed and fire stopping was reinstated. This included the careful installation of fire-resistant materials around ductwork and supporting structures, as shown in the project images.
A major element of the project involved building a fully compliant fire-rated ceiling. The team constructed a robust framework using timber and steel supports, before installing fire-rated boards and intumescent-coated fire barriers. Penetrations through the ceiling, including mechanical services and supports, were fully sealed and fireproofed using approved products to ensure a complete barrier against fire and smoke spread.
The works included:
Fire stopping around fire dampers and ductwork using intumescent products.
Construction of a new fire-rated ceiling system, including full boarding and taping.
Sealing and protecting service penetrations through the ceiling.
Installation of fire stopping collars and wraps where required.
Labelling of fire protection works for full compliance traceability.
The successful completion of this project has significantly strengthened the fire safety measures at Radisson Red Heathrow, helping to ensure the safety of guests and staff while supporting compliance with current fire regulations.
